In 1873, the Founders of Delta Gamma adopted the motto "Do Good" and our sisters continue to live by this ideal.
Today, Delta Gamma helps our philanthropy Service for Sight through our annual Anchor Splash event! Anchor Splash is the biggest philanthropy event on UT's campus. Throughout the week, Delta Gamma's coach fraternities and sororities through various competitions, raising money and awareness for Service for Sight along the way. At this past year's event, we raised over $20,000!! We love having such an exciting way to help out a philanthropy we're so passionate about!
We also volunteer with Club VIBES, a Knoxville organization which supports the blind and visually impaired. To better get to know the members of Club VIBES, we host several events, including cookie decorating competitions and holiday parties. We also attend walks with members each week!
In order to help raise awareness for the blind and visually impaired, we travel to various local elementary schools and teach children about the importance of caring for our eyes. We give them fake glasses to wear and read them a book called "Arthur's Eyes."
This past spring, we had our first ever "Fight for Sight" as our spring philanthropy fundraising push day! Lion's Club, an organization created by veterans to eliminate preventable blindess, joined us on campus to give free eye exams on campus. We gave over 60 eye exams to students and raised over $3,000 in one day for Club VIBES!
